The Fenland
Black Oak Project

CHARITY BRANDING, WEBSITE DESIGN

The Fenland Black Oak Project was established by a team of master craftspeople following their incredible discovery of a perfectly preserved 5,000-year-old black oak.

I designed a brand identity to tell the story of how they transformed the oak into a spectacular 13-metre-long table for public display—offering a glimpse into the grandeur of our ancient giant forests.

The strapline ‘A Table for the Nation’ was developed alongside a compelling summary statement. The visual language took inspiration from the table’s unique aesthetic, giving the project a contemporary yet historic feel.

The brand identity was applied across a fundraising document, website, souvenir brochure, and display panels.

I designed a fundraising document for prospective sponsors. The covers, with their laser-etched logos, were hand assembled from different pieces of 5000 year old Black Oak.

The website provides up-to-date information for visitors. It also shares the history of the project and highlights the importance of Black Oak.

A souvenir brochure was crafted to mark the unveiling of the table by Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, at Ely Cathedral.

I also created a set of informative display panels to accompany the table as it visits different venues across the country.
